Second Thots

No media bias?

If this American presidential race has reinforced just one aspect of my established belief system, it's that media bias does exist, and that it's out in full force.

This morning on NBC's Today Show, co-host Matt Lauer asked the following question of someone who is covering the GOP convention in New York city this week (I'm paraphrasing):

What do the Republicans need to do in order to drag in - I mean convince - independent voters to vote for the party?
Despite my paraphrase, he most certainly used the term, "drag", then reached for cover with the more politically correct terminology he uses when in polite company.

Glenn Harlan Reynolds of Tech Central Station discusses the topic of media bias in greater detail - focusing on the prospect of a shift from traditional to alternative sources if the former don't get their act together.

Having watched Matt Lauer's little Freudian slip this morning, I don't think it's going to happen any time soon.
