Getting strong now?
THIS AND THAT
I don't know if The Contender has enough broad appeal to stack up against Mark Burnett's other reality show gems Survivor and The Apprentice. It might get that appeal with the stories that unfold as the contestants duke it out against one another.
So far, in true Rocky fashion, the story has been that of the underdog, which is what the show producers wanted when they signed Sylvester Stallone to be the face of the series.
In the first two episodes, the boxer that wanted it the most, not the boxer with the most talent, ended up surviving for another day. Rocky the legend would be proud. Sylvester Stallone the TV executive might be too.
