Harper's no fool on the Middle East
Remember when lots of people were criticizing Harper for taking sides in the Middle East conflict? The word "measured" was being used as a punchline for countless jokes. Maybe not anymore.
In case anyone hasn't noticed, Harper's stand is causing some major divisions within the Liberal Party of Canada. Not only are there stories in the major media about Jews leaving the party, the Liberal blogosphere is now ripe with skirmishes over how severely anti-Israel sentiment -- some of it anti-Semitic -- should be dealt with in the party.
In fact, many of Harper's positions, especially on foreign policy, are exposing some significant splits among Liberals on some pretty big and important files.
Couldn't be part of a plan, now, could it be? Naaaaaah.
