The missing priority is found – sort of
For what it's worth, Harper's patient wait list guarantee is still on the prime minister's website. "Health Care" is listed on the banner at the top of the page, which links to the specific promise they made on wait times during the election campaign. I guess somebody didn't get the message that the guarantee is supposed to be done like dinner. It at least serves as a reminder that the Conservatives did indeed make the promise in the first place. Keeping it is another matter, of course. Right now, it doesn't look good. Absolutely no one in the government is talking about it.
From my perspective, I don't know why such a guarantee wouldn't be a part of the discussions the government is having with the provinces to address the fiscal imbalance. After all, the feds do have a mandate on this, and who in the world would block an attempt to reduce heath care wait times?
Oh well.
