Stockwell Day proves the egg-throwers wrong
When Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced his new cabinet last winter, many on the left were salivating at the thought of Stockwell Day being one of the juiciest targets for the opposition parties in the House. I, for one, am glad to see such smugness proven wrong. Some of these same people assumed John McCallum would be a star on the opposition benches, too. Glad to see such smugness proven wrong.
As corny as it sounds, I think people should be given a chance before being mocked. Stockwell Day may have had a hard time as a party leader during difficult times, but he's had some positive political experiences as well — including a stint as finance minister during a booming provincial economy.
Good to see that he's getting the last laugh — for now.
