Dion receives favourable press coverage

As far as I can tell, the press coverage of Dion's first few days as leader has been rather favourable. To Dion's credit, he didn't give them or any other potential critics any ammunition, which is what focusing on the environment would have done. His own years in government are nothing to brag about, despite what he and the press have been telling us until now.

Instead, Dion's ideological attack on Harper's apparent ideology the media seemed to like.

The last thing Dion wanted was for Canadians to develop a first impression of him that involved attacks on his own environmental record. So Day 1, for what it's worth, was a sign that Dion can play the tactical game as well.
