Nothing like the prospect of one's own hanging...
As hard as it is for me to read about more Republicans defecting from Bush on Iraq, it would seem as though these actions — intended or not — might actually have some positive consequences on the ground. It might explain why Iraq's Shiite prime minister is taking a hard stand against Iraq's Shiite militias, for example.
The time for screwing around is over. If Iraq doesn't get its act together soon, both Democrats and Republicans will simply let the country decide its own fate — without more American GI's dying.
As they say, nothing more focuses the mind than the prospect of one's own hanging. If Iraq doesn't realize its facing its own death sentence soon, I suppose it never will.
