Not so sure that the NHL is shaking


Although the writers at the Hamilton Spectator suggest that Jim Balsille's most recent upping of the ante in his bid to buy the Phoenix coyotes should "send a chill down the collective spine of the National Hockey League," I'm not so sure.

Balsillie's strength as a bidder has always been money. His weakness is that he can't get approval from the very group of NHL owners that he wants to join.

But I guess it can't hurt to cross your t's and dot your i's, can it, and throw a few more millions in the mix while you're at it.
