Camille Paglia, female Viagra, and the pill
I see that Camille Paglia has written a quite intricate piece in the New York Times about the sex drives of middle class women, female Viagra, and so much more.In essence, I think what she's trying to tell us is that various complex cultural factors are to blame for a lack of libido in family women.
However, I may have a far simpler explanation: the pill.
There are two ironies here.
First, there's the notion that medication responsible for people having more sex, the pill, is also contributing to them having less sex.
Second, there's the rather amusing prospect of women taking one pill, Viagra, to offset the side-effects of another, the pill.
Modern complexities indeed.

While I don't normally post anonymously, this is not about me... but I would like to confirm that the pill killed my wife's libido. Her drive increased significantly, though gradually, after she stopped taking it.
