Interesting reads of the day

• I guess someone over at the Toronto Star really really really really really really doesn't want to see a resurgent NDP doom Canada's political left for the foreseeable future. I know there's been a lot of talk about some kind of alliance between the Dippers and the Liberal Party of Canada.

Merger happened on the right, and it certainly helped, but it came after a lot of spilled milk, a lot of effort to mop up that spilled milk (remember all those "unite the right" meetings), and a lot of electoral losses as a result of not cooperating. I don't think Canada's left is quite there yet, and much of the current talk is probably nothing more than political maneuvering by the NDP and backstabbing factions within the Liberal party. And, yes, when a Canadian opposition party is doing very badly, there will be division and backstabbing. Our history proves it.
